The Mimic Halloween Trials Guide
Updated: 2026-08-23
What Are Halloween Trials?
Halloween Trials is a seasonal survival mode in The Mimic, distinct from the standard Book chapters. It launched October 2, 2021 as part of CTStudio's first Halloween celebration and returned each year with rotating rewards.
On October 25, 2024, Halloween Trials received a major revamp as part of Roblox's official "The Haunt" event — adding new mechanics, two exclusive lanterns (Kabocha Lantern and Taiyo Lantern), and two new badges (Halloween Trials Revamp Completed and Trick Or Treat Completed).
Outside the active Halloween season, the mode remains playable but does not reward badges or lanterns. Once the season closes, the year's exclusive rewards become permanently unobtainable.
How the Mode Works
Players spawn into a Halloween-themed trial ground populated by trick-or-treat NPCs and event-specific entities. The objective is to complete trial objectives while avoiding seasonal monsters that use unique behaviors distinct from the four Beasts.
Difficulty scales across rounds. Early rounds test basic movement and entity tells; later rounds stack multiple threats on a small arena. Co-op coordination matters more than in standard chapters because the arena does not give you long retreat paths.
Audio cues are loud — Halloween Trials leans on musical stings and doorbell audio to telegraph events. Headphones are strongly recommended.
Seasonal Rewards (2024 Revamp Onward)
Kabocha Lantern — orange-pumpkin-themed lantern with stable mid-brightness. One of the two exclusive lanterns added in the 2024 revamp.
Taiyo Lantern — sun-themed lantern with warm-toned beam. Second exclusive lantern from the 2024 revamp.
Halloween Trials Revamp Completed — badge awarded on finishing the revamped mode during an active Halloween season.
Trick Or Treat Completed — badge awarded on completing the trick-or-treat side objectives during the season.
Once the season closes, all four rewards become unobtainable. The original Jack-O-Lanterns badge from the 2021 launch was retired permanently after the 2024 revamp — there is no path to claim it now.
How to Play Each Year
Check the in-game lobby during October for the Halloween Trials portal. It only appears during the active Halloween window — usually early October through early November.
Redeem active codes for Spirits before queueing. Seasonal modes do not award Spirits but you may want stockpiles for shop lantern purchases.
Use the same sprint and crouch discipline from the main Books. Audio cues are louder, but the core mechanic — sprint sparingly, crouch through blind corners, break line of sight with arena props — transfers directly.
Co-op is the recommended squad size. Solo is possible for the early rounds but later waves punish lone players with overlapping aggro.
Halloween Trials vs Witch Trials
Witch Trials is a permanent prequel mode set in the Edo Period — it never goes out of season, and it ties directly to Mimic lore. Halloween Trials is the seasonal Halloween celebration mode with limited rewards and no canonical lore tie.
If you want lore context and replay value, Witch Trials is the better long-term mode. If you want seasonal cosmetics and badge collection, Halloween Trials is the one to chase every October.
Both modes are useful for practice — Halloween Trials hones arena survival reflexes that transfer to Nightmare finale waves, while Witch Trials previews lore you will see in Rebirth and Witch Trials revamp content.
