The Mimic Lore

Updated: 2026-08-23

The Four Beasts & Hakaisha

The Mimic is built on a single cosmology: an eldritch creator called Hakaisha forged four supernatural beings in 979 BC and unleashed them across ancient Japan. These four became known as the Beasts — Kintoru (Control), Enzukai (Jealousy), Netamo (Rage), and Yuma (Rebirth). Each Beast became the main antagonist of one of the four Books in the game. Their combined rampage is what the in-world lore calls the Calamity Event.

Although the Beasts were catastrophic, Hakaisha gave a gift to a single human warrior — Kusunoki Masashige, a samurai granted supernatural power from the same god. Masashige fought the four Beasts for ten days and ten nights inside the gilded cage Hakaisha had built around Japan. Even with his gifts, he could not destroy them — only bind each Beast into a cursed Book that would one day seek a new host.

That binding is the engine of The Mimic's modern-day chapters. Each Book is a fragment of the Calamity leaking back into the present. Control's Book holds Kintoru. Jealousy's Book holds Enzukai. Rage's Book (Chapter I live, more chapters planned) holds Netamo. Rebirth's Book — the upcoming fourth arc — will be Yuma's return. Understanding that structure helps you interpret every chapter you clear.

Control's Book — Kintoru (Sama)

Kintoru is the Beast of Control and the central villain of Book I: Control. His in-world title — Sama, the puppeteer — explains his signature mechanic: he does not chase you personally, he animates the mannequins, students, and school fixtures of the high school that protagonist Yasu returns to in Chapter 1.

Across four Control chapters you fight through Yasu's old school, a flooded Sunken Kingdom ruled by Kintoru's palace, and finally the Trial of the Three that concludes the arc. Lore tablets scattered through Control explain Masashige's original binding and Kintoru's place among the four Beasts.

Players who only speedrun Control miss this layer — the lore tablets in Chapter 3's Sunken Kingdom and Chapter 4's palace chambers spell out that Kintoru's role as the first Beast is what binds the other three Books together.

Jealousy's Book — Enzukai (Rin)

Jealousy's Book centers on Enzukai, also called Rin. She is the Beast of Jealousy and the tragic final antagonist of Book II. Her descent into monstrosity is tied to the character Nagisa, a vengeful spirit whose influence warps entire cities of cherry blossoms and flooded streets.

Jealousy's four chapters span a vibrant but deadly aesthetic: blooming sakura exteriors, Mannequin puzzles in Chapter 2, the Hollowed City in Chapter 3, and Rin's true-form confrontation in Chapter 4. The Chapter 4 finale reveals Rin's tragic origin and her ultimate fate — and is the moment the other three Beasts are foreshadowed as the Calamity continues.

Biwaki, Kintoru, and the Grin Demon (Nejibishoma) are Jealousy's primary entities. The Grin Demon chase in Chapter 3 is the most-searched segment in the community because Rin's influence makes the chase feel personal — not random horror, but jealous pursuit.

Rage's Book — Netamo (Enkai)

Netamo, sometimes called Enkai in early lore, is the Beast of Rage and the main antagonist of Book III. His 2023 teasers used fire and destruction imagery to signal a more aggressive tone than the folklore stalkers of Control and Jealousy.

Rage's Book Chapter I released June 22, 2026 — the lore reason is that Netamo's fragment escaped Masashige's binding during the Great Convergence Event of late 2025, a cross-book incident where entities from all three Books began appearing in each other's realms. Rage's chapters shift the game world into scorched earth, volcanic caverns, and sealed facilities, with new Aggression Mechanics where monsters become faster and more lethal the longer they pursue.

Netamo was given a new two-legged hulking design at the Bad Ending of Book II — replacing the original naked-monster look — so Rage's roster is the most visually distinct from earlier Books.

Rebirth's Book — Yuma (the Coming Fourth Arc)

Yuma (ユマ) is the Beast of Rebirth and the future main antagonist of Book IV. She is described as a woman with light skin and long black hair, holding a grey parasol, in a white dress. Her theme is Life and Decay — the entity Shinigami was originally linked to her in early teasers before the final design pivoted to Yuma herself.

In an exclusive interview with MUCDICH, he confirmed that Rebirth is the fourth and final planned Book in the main Mimic storyline. Yuma's chapter (teased for 2026) will close the Calamity arc that began with Kintoru in 2021. The story will reveal why Hakaisha unleashed the four Beasts and what Masashige's final binding actually accomplished.

Yuma is also tied to the protagonist of Rebirth, who is revealed to have a connection to all previous heroes (Yasu, Kai, and the Rage protagonist). The Garden of Souls is the planned setting. Until CTStudio ships Chapter I, this wiki tracks lore teasers, design changes, and community theory threads.

The Witch Trials & Halloween Trials (Prequel & Side Modes)

The Witch Trials is a chronological prequel to all four Books, set in the Edo Period thousands of years before the main events. It introduces Samael and the original curse that preceded Hakaisha's Beasts. First released July 9, 2021, it received a minor change in early 2022 ahead of Jealousy's launch and a larger revamp on September 18, 2024.

Halloween Trials is a limited-time seasonal mode first released October 2, 2021, then revamped on October 25, 2024 as part of Roblox's official "The Haunt" event. Outside the Halloween season the mode remains playable but does not award badges or lanterns — once the season closes, rewards become permanently unobtainable.

Both side modes exist outside the main Book canon but reinforce the Calamity lore: the Witch Trials shows how the binding ritual works, and Halloween Trials tests it under a cursed seasonal frame.
